8 Days Lemosho Route – Detailed Day-by-Day Itinerary

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) greeted by a friendly Adventreksafari representative. Transfer comfortably to your accommodation at Endelea Lodge in Moshi (overnight stay with breakfast). Relax and enjoy amenities like a swimming pool and Wi-Fi. Attend an evening briefing with experienced managers to ensure you're prepared for the climb.
Depart Moshi for a 3-hour drive through villages to Lemosho Gate in Kilimanjaro National Park. Enjoy the beautiful rainforest scenery and challenging muddy trails. Gaiters and poles are recommended. Your guide shares insights on local flora and fauna as you hike 3-4 hours, gaining 396m in elevation, to Mti Mkubwa Camp. Expect cooler temperatures at this higher altitude.
After breakfast, embark on a steeper ascent, leaving the rainforest behind. Hike for 4-6 hours, gaining 719m in elevation, and enjoy widening views reaching the rim of the Shira Plateau. Temperatures will continue to drop as you reach Shira I Camp.
Explore the vast Shira Plateau, a full-day acclimatization adventure. Enjoy gentle walks eastward towards Kibo's peak and across the plateau meadows. Shira Hut, located on the base of Lent Hills, offers various acclimatization walks. Shira is one of Earth's highest plateaus.
Today's hike focuses on acclimatization, though you end at a similar elevation as you began. Ascend a ridge from the Shira Plateau, passing the Kibo peak junction before continuing southeast towards the Lava Tower (Shark's Tooth). Descend to Barranco Camp after reaching the second junction leading to the Arrow Glacier.
Hike a steep ridge up the adventurous Barranco Wall to the Karanga Valley. This section joins the Mweka Trail and offers stunning views of your crew's skill on the wall. Overnight rest at Karanga Camp.
Continue your ascent towards Barafu Camp, completing the South Circuit with diverse summit views. An early dinner and rest prepare you for the summit night push. Enjoy the last night on the mountain at Barafu Camp.
An early morning (midnight to 2 AM) marks the exciting start of your summit attempt. This is the most demanding part, both mentally and physically. Ascend through scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim, witnessing a magnificent sunrise (faster hikers may see it from the summit). Continue for 1 hour on a snow-covered trail to reach the pinnacle - Uhuru Peak (5,895m)! Savor this once-in-a-lifetime achievement, capturing photos and enjoying the moment. Descend to Barafu for lunch and a short rest before continuing down to Mweka Camp. Gaiters and trekking poles are highly recommended for the loose gravel and volcanic ash terrain. Celebrate your accomplishments and enjoy your last evening on the mountain.
After breakfast, participate in a farewell ceremony with your crew. Descend for 3-4 hours to Mweka Gate, receiving your summit certificates. Expect warmer, wetter, and steeper terrain. Gaiters and poles are again recommended. A vehicle will transfer you back to your Moshi hotel (around 30 minutes). Enjoy a well-deserved hot shower, dinner, and celebrate your triumph before departure.
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel. Check out by 11:00 AM (late check-out options may be available for an additional fee). Transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departing flight.
